Classes and Workshops

CCLD Makerspace is temporarily closed beginning March 17 through at least April 13, 2020 as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of COVID-19 (read more).

Tech and craft-related classes and workshops are offered each month on a rotational basis (upcoming classes listed below). All classes and workshops are free and intended for ages 10+ unless otherwise specified.

Classes

Lego Robotics

Use Lego Mindstorm kits to construct and program basic robots (Ages 8+). Guest Instructor: Kate Hansen. This workshop is held in the Makerspace Activity Area (in front of the Tinker Lab at the Steele Memorial Library. Email labcentral@stls.org or call 607-733-8609 to register.

Image Editing Using Free Software (GIMP)

Photo Restoration Workshop

Learn photo restoration techniques you can use to bring life back to old family photographs. Bring one or two family photos to work on during the workshop (digital photos work best). Certification Classes

To schedule a training session for one of our certification classes (see below), please call 607-733-8609 during the Tinker Lab’s open hours, or E-mail us at: labcentral@stls.org.

Digital Media Lab Certification at Steele

Become certified to use the Digital Media Lab. You must have a parent present if you are under 16. Once you have completed the certification class, you can use the Digital Media Lab at Steele independently.

3D Printer Certification at Steele

Become certified in the use of the 3D printers at the CCLD Makerspace in the Steele Memorial Library. Completion of the certification process will allow you to use the 3D printers independently. Anyone under the age of 16 will be supervised in the use of the 3D printer.

Laser Certification

Learn to use CCLD Makerspace’s Epilog laser cutter and engraver. Certification will cover use of CorelDraw for creating designs to send to the laser and how to operate the laser.

Certification courses are for anyone 16 and up (anyone under 16 will require supervision to use equipment).
